TOMASZ JAKUB OPALKA (PL) TOMASZ JAKUB OPALKA was born in 1983. He graduated from the Primary Music School in the class of Percussion and the Music School of Second Degree in the class of Trombone in Kielce. He is the winner of several prizes and national competitions for composers. In 2006 he won 3rd prize on the 1st Alexander Moyzes International Competition for Composers in Bratislava for his symphonic work: „Visions of Perfect Shapes” which was performed by Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Gazon, and The 2nd Prize on G. Fitelberg Composers Competition for another symphonic piece for large orchestra: "EPIDERMA". He is studying Composition at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with Krzysztof Baculewski. His compositions include symphonic works, chamber and choral music, film scores and electronic music. Prizes: 2001 - Crescendo - National Competition for Young Composers in Tarnow. Laureate for "Trio" - for flute, vibraphone and cello; 2002 - III National Competition for Young Composers of UFM in warsaw. Prize for "wspomniennie..." - for chamber orchestra; 2004 - V National Competition for Young Composers of UFM in Warsaw. 1st Prize and Performers Prize for "INTERACTION I" - for orchestra; 2006 - 1st Alexander Moyzes Competition for Composers in Bratislava. 3rd Prize (1st wasn't given) for "Visions of Perfect Shapes" - for symphony orchestra; 2007 - G. Fitelberg Composers Competition in Katowice. 2nd Prize for "EPIDERMA" - for symphony orchestra.2007 - Scholarschip of Societe Generale Bank.
